The international ranking list of universities “UI GreenMetric World University Rankings” of 2020(http://greenmetric.ui.ac.id/) classifies the University of West Attica in the 487th place globally in terms of sustainable development based on their assessment on 39 indictors. The specific indicators are related to the infrastructures, the energy, the climate change, the waste, the water, the transportation and the research.
As the rector of the institute, Professor Panagiotis Kaldis, noted, it is an excellent performance of the University of West Attica since for the first time it is included in this international ranking and it strengthens its effort to become a “green university”.
Moreover, the University of West Attica got the first place among the Greek HEIs, which had participated in the ranking both in the field of “green” transportation and in study programs on sustainable development topics, as reflected at the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of UN.
The University of West Attica has already declared its ecological character and the actions of the academic community are constantly being enriched in every viability sector: environmental, political, social and financial.
