“Conference on the World Greek Language Day at the Athens Concert Hall “Megaron” with the participation of the Department of Graphic and Visual Communication of the University of West Attica”

The Department of Graphic Design and Visual Communication of the University of West Attica produced three short animation films and participated in their screening at the event – a meeting for the World Greek Language Day, organized by the General Secretariat for Hellenes Abroad ( GGAE ) with the participation of the Presidency Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus. The event took place at the Athens Concert Hall “Megaron” and aimed to highlight, promote and enhance the learning and use of the Greek language.

The event was welcomed by Mr Konstantinos Vlasis, Deputy Foreign Minister for Diaspora Greeks, Mr Fotis Fotiou, Presidential Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus for Human Rights and for Overseas Cypriots, Ms Sofia Zacharakis, Deputy Minister of Education and Mr George Patoulis, Regional Governor of Attica.

During the event three short animation films were screened, produced by the Department of Graphic and Visual Communication of the University of West Attica, which won the first three prizes in the competition “Greek Language is a Soul”, organized by GGAE in collaboration with the Greek Department of IBBY – Children’s Book Circle for writing a short story / fairy tale by children and young people of the Greek Diaspora.

After the end of the screening, a commemorative plaque was awarded by Prof. Ioannis Chrysoulakis, The Secretary General for Greeks Abroad, to the coordinator of the creation of the films, Mr Spyros Siakas, Assistant Professor of the Department of Graphic Design and Visual Communication of . the University of West Attica.
